Nothing Much!
Mac's scan showed that the ventricles on the left hand side had gotten bigger again, so that indicates that the left side (which has a fixed-setting/non-programmable valve) still hasn't reached the correct pressure level yet. So, they are now keeping him nearly upright in order to hopefully kick-start this process. They also "tapped" his shunt, which means they inserted a needle into the shunt valve's reservoir (all shunts have one) to withdraw some CSF. They do this to confirm that the shunt catheter within the ventricle is clear of obstructions, to test the CSF for infection, and, in Mac's case this time, to relieve some of the pressure that is resulting from the fluid increasing in there, but not draining. He's been pretty symptomatic the last couple of days, which isn't fun. He's mostly just fussy, and his eyes are also being pretty crazy. Hopefully it all levels out soon. He will have another scan tomorrow morning, and we'll go from there! My understanding is that as soon as his scan looks better, we will be moved to the stepdown unit and then discharged from there! Here's hoping that happens sooner rather than later!
