I left the hospital early this morning so that I could be here when the kids woke up. I haven't seen them since Mac and I left for Sacred Heart on Thursday...and since it's looking like it will be Monday before he's discharged, I decided to come home and spend the day with them.
Mac's stay has been extended for several different reasons. Initially, it was the seizure. He needed extra monitoring for that and to get a new seizure med. sorted out. Next it was the repeated spells of central apnea that warranted an extra night. Those were starting to slow down, just in time for them to catch him to have 10 beats of an irregular heart rhythm in a row. Apparently this is a big enough deal to warrant 48 hours of monitoring in the Unit and the intensivist to have a conference call with a cardiologist or two. If it never happens again, it will just be chalked up to his poor body still having a hard time getting the anesthesia out of his system, just having another big surgery, new medications....all the things he has going. If it does happen again, though, it can apparently be really dangerous, so it will require more tests. So, a Monday discharge it (hopefully) is.
So this blog thing is kind of handy! It might actually grow on me :) Thanks for reading, I think until people start showing up here it will kind of feel like I'm talking to myself. Has it come to that?!
Finally I got in:)!!! Thanks so much for the update. We'll continue to pray. Hang in there, you guys are doing a good job. Try and get some sleep 'eh!!
ReplyDeleteHi-I am in! You are not talking to yourself...loved reading your first post. :) Will pray for his little heart and all the other things. I am glad you got to spend the day with your at home kiddos. Lots of love to you!
ReplyDeleteTrust me i know what its like to feel like your talking to yourself, i did my stoy telling on shareyourstory.org. Its sponsord by march of dimes so there were people who understood or who had been through the same things if not something simular. It helped me know that i wasnt the only one hurting, and that people cared to. I hope that things get better. Embers looking at going home tuesday morning on oxygen, we have to stay the night with the tank a monitor and a room by ourselves. But we dont have a feeding tube no more! I've told you from the beginging though and i will tell you again it does get better. Just know they want the best, may leave us sleepless, but just know he is safe where he lays right now. My fingers are crossed for you that this is the day and i told our angel to keep a close watch for you. Miss you guys greatly and wished i could have been there for you. Its a long road and its been nice having eachother in our journey.
